# Starting a Phoenix app with Phoenix Express

To start a Phoenix application on macOS or Ubuntu, you can use Phoenix Express:

```sh
curl https://new.phoenixframework.org/myapp | sh
```

It installs Erlang, Elixir and Phoenix and generates `myapp`. Change the name in the URL to name your application. It uses PostgreSQL or MySQL if available, otherwise SQLite.
